How to Choose
the Right Chandelier
Size, height and proportions: everything you need to know to light your spaces with elegance.
Measure the Room
Measurements in feet → Result in inches
At What Height?
High ceiling? Add 3 inches of chain for every extra foot above the standard 9ft ceiling.
Above the Table
Long rectangular table? Consider two smaller chandeliers or a linear fixture ½ - ⅔ the length of the table.
Special Cases
Stairways and High Ceilings
Stairways and double or triple-height spaces are the perfect opportunity for a dramatic chandelier. Here you can go bold with impressive sizes and vertical development.
Cascading or multi-tiered chandeliers are ideal: they visually accompany the descent of the stairs.
Entryway and Foyer
The entryway is your home's calling card. An impactful chandelier immediately sets the right atmosphere and communicates the style of your home.
Choose a statement piece: it's the first thing your guests will notice when entering.
Bedroom
In the bedroom, lighting should be warm and relaxing. Choose soft shapes and warm light, avoiding overly imposing chandeliers above the bed.
Consider a dimmer to adjust the intensity based on the time of day.
Chain or Direct Mount?
The ceiling height determines how to hang your chandelier. Here's how to choose:
Direct Mount
Ceilings up to 9ft
- Maximum headroom
- Clean, modern look
- Ideal for flush mounts
With Chain
Ceilings over 9ft
- Adjustable height
- Dramatic effect
- Perfect above tables
All our chandeliers can be configured with chain or direct mount. Tell us your ceiling height and we'll take care of it.
